Mientras leía un artículo técnico sobre la razón por la cual seguimos usando un ancho de línea de 80 caracteres en el munde de la informática me encuentro con una cita del novelista británico G. K. Chesterton sobre el reformismo que conviene tener bien presente:

The more modern type of reformer goes up to the fence and says, I don’t see the use of this fence. Let’s clear it away. To which I reply, if you don’t see the use of it, I certainly won’t let you clear it away. Go away and think, and then when you come back, tell me what you do see the use of it, and I may allow you to destroy it.

Seamos claros, Chesterton era un conocido tradicionalista. Nadie pretende que fuera neutral. No obstante, su posición con respecto a este tema merece la pena ser una seria consideración, me parece. {enlace a esta entrada}
