[Tue May 27 13:04:04 CDT 2014]For the last couple of years or so I have been struggling with my smartphone running out of memory space, even though it came with a few pre-installed apps that I never use. You know what I'm talking about. The usual apps: stock tickers, NFL, golf games... I couldn't care any less about any of those, and yet the mobile carrier feels it has a right to impose them on me and waste memory space. This must be the "freedom" they extol so much. In any case, although I searched for information on how to get rid of them, I never found much. Sure, I must also admit I never truly put much effort into it. Yes, it bothers me that the carriers feel as if they have the right to do this. However, my phone continued working as usual and it truly wasn't a major issue. In any case, now, for the first time, I have come across a video on YouTube that clearly explains how to remove these pre-installed software apps from your smartphone: Notice that the author of the video talks about an app called Root Explorer, but there are a few others out there that could accomplish the same. All you need is to install a file manager that gives you access to the root device. While I haven't applied this trick to my phone yet, it should work just fine. {link to this entry} |
