I must admit I started reading this book because it was on the list of mandatory books for my kids' high-school and I wanted to give them a hand. Well, and also because I had never read any of Dickens' books, difficult as that might be to believe. Dickens is one of those authors who are so famous that pretty much everybody knows something about him or his stories, but not necessarily because people read his books. Our knowledge of these authors (Shakespeare is another case) tend to be limited to popular culture. So, I thought this was an excellent occasion to read one of his best known works.
